Awonderful Victorian-era swiveling fob, modeled in 18k yellow gold and set with a pair of intaglio carved seals, one carnelian and the other bloodstone. The carneliansealis arich wine color— it depictsthe Hutchison family coat of arms (Clan Donald) which is intricately carvedwith three boar's heads and three arrow heads. The coat of armsis surrounded by aplume border. The bloodstone seal is dark green with beautiful, spattered, bright red figuring— itis carved with the monogram IH, in bold, stylized lettering.
Because this fob lays flat, it can be worn as a pendant (even on a short chain) with either side facing out. These beautifully-carved seals are mounted in a heavy polished bezel, which swivels inside a thick, looping frame. The fob hangs from an extra heavy jump ring. It is marked 18, for 18k gold. These old seal fobs are rarities, especially those unique, historical examples that can be linked to specific families and individuals!
